Meet Tina Hebert, Ph.D. Reading Specialist at Chesapeake Bay Academy
CBA welcomed Dr. Christina (Tina) Hebert to the team in August of 2016 as our new Middle School Language Arts Teacher & Reading Specialist. Dr. Hebert is a Certified Reading Specialist with Master’s degrees both in Special Education and Administration, as well as a Ph.D. in Literacy Leadership. She is also a nationally board certified teacher. Since her start at CBA, in addition to teaching language arts classes, she has worked one-on-one with Braden, a 9th grade student with profound dyslexia. Through their work together, Braden’s reading level has already increased a full grade level and Dr. Hebert is confident that he will continue to grow.
“This is the first time in my life that I have felt like there is hope for me to read.”
All of Dr. Hebert’s classes are modeled using a program developed by the Reading & Writing Project at Columbia University and all of her teaching methods are research-based.
Chesapeake Bay Academy congratulates Dr. Hebert on her work and is grateful to have such highly-skilled faculty to serve our differently-abled learners.
