Research tells us that boys are identified with learning differences nearly 3 times as often as girls. Boys receive support services in school far more often than girls because of the behaviors, often times disruptive, that they display in the classroom.
Experience tells us that frequently girls do not receive the services they would benefit from because they are well-behaved and unobtrusive. It is in the spirit of creating equality of opportunity for these deserving girls that Chesapeake Bay Academy is pleased to announce the extension of the Gender Equality Grant to newly enrolled families who qualify for the 2020-2021 academic year. The grant is an effort to provide support for girls who struggle with learning differences in the regular education setting, and to provide them with the intervention they need to thrive, rather than simply survive, in school.
Girls entering kindergarten through grade 10 are eligible and must be nominated by an educational professional. Students who successfully complete the admission process and are found to be appropriate candidates for the program will receive a $5,000 award, on top of any financial assistance for which the family would qualify, for two years. Grant is eligible to new enrollments only.
Chesapeake Bay Academy is an invaluable resource to the Hampton Roads community. We are the only independent school that specializes in educating intelligent children who struggle to learn in traditional school settings. With small class sizes, multisensory instruction and project-based curriculum, our students have the opportunity to find success and develop a true love of learning.
If you have questions regarding this grant opportunity or need to be referred to an educational professional, please contact Margaret Meyers at 757.497.6200 or firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope you will join Chesapeake Bay Academy in our quest to meet the needs of all exceptional learners.
