Lovely Edwards represents CBA at NAIS People of Color Conference
Lovely Edwards, CBA Diversity Committee Leader and MS Para-Professional, recently attended the National Association of Independent School's People of Color Conference.
The conference is the flagship of the National Association of Independent Schools' (NAIS) commitment to equity and justice in teaching and learning. The mission of the conference is to provide safe space for leadership, professional development and networking for people of color and allies of all backgrounds in independent schools.
"Being surrounded by people of color from all around the world, in one place, united by the goal of creating spaces where everyone is valued was magical", Lovely said. "There were numerous conversations, workshops and seminars creating awareness and support through research and shared experiences. I especially loved the conversations held by those outside of the classrooms (board members, heads of school, executive assistants, etc) discussing how exposure through dialogue reshaped perspectives and bottom-lines at their respective schools. I am excited about my experience at the conference and look forward to working alongside my colleagues to develop a strong and meaningful diversity program here at CBA."
Embracing diversity is a cornerstone of our beliefs at CBA and we look forward to working with all of our stakeholders across the CBA community - students and parents, faculty and staff, board and administration.
