VBIDA Scholarship Recipient: Braden Muller of Chesapeake Bay Academy

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

The Virginia Branch of the International Dyslexia Association (VBIDA) has selected Braden Muller, 8th grade student at Chesapeake Bay Academy, as the 2015 Annual Fun Run Scholarship recipient.

This scholarship is made possible by the Tidewater Region of the VBIDA and their 3rd Annual Tidewater Poker Fun Run for Dyslexia Awareness that was held on Saturday, October 10th.  The purpose of the event is to provide funds to a student in need of tuition assistance and to spread awareness during National Dyslexia Awareness Month.  A total of 26 riders participated and raised $900.

Braden embodies the extreme contradictions of dyslexia.  He possesses a powerful intellect yet cannot read or write in the traditional sense.  Despite years of private academic language therapy, Braden still reads at a pre-1st grade level.  However, Braden’s intelligence and above average IQ shines when he is able to learn in an environment that plays to his strengths and learning style and aids him in the use of technology.  Braden desperately needs Chesapeake Bay Academy to prepare for success in life.  The Muller family thanks you all for your support of our son, and the 1 in 5 children in our community that will benefit from your generosity!
