Virtual Summer Enrichment: Week 1 Recap

Our fantastic team of educators kicked off CBA’s first Virtual Summer Enrichment Program on Monday, June 22nd. The program includes multiple opportunities for students to engage with teachers while keeping their reading and math skills sharp over the summer.
Our two Intensive Reading offerings include grades 3 - 5 with Mrs. Ramp and Ms. McKeown and grades 6 - 8 with Mrs. Suratos and Ms. Latvis. Each week our students also have multiple sessions with Dr. Hebert, our reading specialist. Our teachers utilize document cameras to share books and other materials during whole-group lessons, and our students use Wacom drawing tablets to screen-share their digital work during class activities. Teachers also use online review games and other interactive tech-tools to keep students fully engaged while making learning fun! The students begin each day together at 8:30 a.m. in a morning meeting and, following announcements, the group takes a couple of moments to practice mindfulness together before moving into their Zoom breakout rooms for class.
Additionally, our program includes the opportunity for one-on-one Academic Therapy sessions with Dr. Hebert to support students who need more intensive reading intervention and one-on-one Supportive Math sessions with Mr. Lincoln to help students who need extra support with math concepts. Dr. Hebert and Mr. Lincoln both tailor their sessions to meet the individual needs of each student with whom they are working.
